Retyre Blocks Ltd is a Ugandan green innovation company founded in 2020 with a vision to turn environmental challenges into practical, sustainable opportunities.
Our journey began with a simple question:
What if waste tyres could become something valuable instead of becoming another environmental burden?
As Uganda experiences growing volumes of end-of-life tyre waste alongside increasing demand for construction materials, we saw an opportunity to address both challenges through one circular solution.
Today, Retyre Blocks transforms waste vehicle tyres into durable, affordable and eco-friendly rubberized paving blocks for construction and landscaping.
We are building a business where waste becomes a resource, recycling creates value, and sustainable innovation creates opportunities.
Retyre Blocks was founded in 2020 with the ambition of exploring innovative ways to transform waste into useful products and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
The early journey was driven by a desire to solve real environmental challenges through entrepreneurship, innovation and practical action.
During the early years, we explored the potential of waste tyres as a resource for sustainable construction.
We studied the waste challenge, explored material possibilities and began developing the concept of transforming waste tyres into alternative paving products.
This stage helped us understand both the environmental opportunity and the technical challenges involved in creating a commercially viable solution.
We moved from exploring the idea to developing and testing paving block prototypes made from recycled tyre material.
Our focus was on understanding the production process, improving the product and determining how recycled tyre material could be transformed into practical construction solutions.
Research, development and testing became an important part of our journey.
We began piloting our production and testing our paving blocks in real outdoor environments.
Our early applications included playgrounds and compounds, allowing us to gather practical experience, improve our production approach and learn from users and customers.
The product feasibility was validated through early adopters and initial customer engagement.
In 2026, Retyre Blocks entered an important growth phase.
We have produced and deployed 920 square metres of paving, collected and recycled 500+ waste tyres, and created 8 jobs across our operations.
We have also secured 26 repeat customer orders and completed commercial installations.
Our focus is now on increasing production capacity, expanding tyre collection, growing our workforce, reaching new markets and strengthening our partnerships.
Retyre Blocks, has moved beyond the idea stage.
We have developed and tested our product, worked with early adopters, completed commercial installations and demonstrated demand through returning customers.
